A Trip to the Dentist Paper

A trip to the dentist My tooth pained through the night. I tossed and turned relentlessly in bed. Worst of all, I did not get a wink of sleep last night, even after taking a painkiller. That was a horrible signal which meant that I must go and see a dentist. The next day, I went to the hospital with my parents reluctantly. Nothing would be more horrible than seeing a dentist. However, I had no choice. As I stepped into the hospital, the smell of disinfectant and medicine together with fresh air washed over my whole body. It was so early that not a single patient could be found there.

The nurse asked about my particulars and than led me to one of the dentists. “ Lye down, open your mouth and be very still. ” These were simple instructions that the dentist gave me. With his cold voice echoing around my ears, I nodded numbly and then did as he asked so. The yellow head-light that he turned on casted yellow and bright light on my face, and was stark against the whiter-than-white operating room. I felt obliged to close my eyes into pinpricks . He seemed noticed it or just wanting to adjust my head to a right position in order to have a clear view of the offending tooth. “ Oh my gosh!

This one is very difficult to deal with. Most of the dental crown had been decayed. I’m afraid you have to have it filled up. ” It was as if I had already felt the pain, I raised up my hand to cover my mouth. “Well, you do want to have a good sleep in the night, right? ” He threatened. Thinking about the pain that I had suffered, I nodded numbly. It was just as well that he then said something reassuring to me. I relaxed a little bit and decided to have it filled. He first pumped some air under high pressure in order to have my teeth cleaned and then went on to fetch his lacers-which were the most scary thing.

The dentist used it to drill away my decayed tooth diligently, acting as a miner, hoping to find some gold in my tooth. It had made my tooth ached like mad. “Hold it. We are almost there. ” He said quietly, but firmly. Just after a few seconds, he stopped this action and finally told me that we could use some special materials to fill the tooth then. While he went to fetch the materials he needed, I furtively touched the drilled tooth with the tip of my tongue, and was surprised to find a channel being drilled. The dentists returned after a while. He first clipped some cotton with forceps and placed them beside the tooth.

Then, he took out a box of disposable dental equipment and use them to help a special material, which was named “vitreous china” ,to replace the vacancy of my tooth. Luckily, this process was not painful at all. After no long, he took out the cotton and told me that I could keep my mouth shut and had a feel about my filled tooth. As I did so,I was amazingly satisfied with the result. Finally, I could went home with my newly filled tooth. On the way home, I promised myself that I would treat my teeth nicely from then on. I really do not want to have that kind of experience again.
