One Must Always be Careful of Books

“One must always be careful of books,” said Tessa, “and what is inside them, for words have the power to change us.” Indeed, certain books seem to have these magical powers that allow them to burst into their reader’s life and turn it upside down, showcasing them this whole world full of new ideas and images that they’ve been exposed to, and now don’t know how to live without it. For these reasons, a lot of people are extremely eager to find that one book that will make them feel all those emotions and most importantly become that truly life-changing book for them.

Personally, I was lucky enough to make such a precious discovery a while ago. Rhonda Byrne’s book “The Secret” truly became my philosophy in life by changing my outlook and perspective on life, shaping my thinking and expanding my mind.

At a certain point of my life I felt incredibly lost, I was lacking inspiration and, quite honestly, my mind was filled with lots of negative thoughts, which had a huge impact on my life and emotional well-being; and luckily “The Secret” appeared in front of me and, surprisingly, contained all the tools and answers that I needed.

This book was and still is quite popular around the world. However, when I was first introduced to it, only very few people knew about the book and for this reason, it wasn’t easy to find it. My close friend was telling me about this incredible book that made her perspective of life shift drastically and I could clearly see that transformation as well.

So, she suggested I need to read it too and it can very beneficial to me. To be honest, at first, I was quite skeptical about it, as a result, the book hadn’t been opened for a while. Until one day I thought about it again and decided – it’s now or never! And “now” was definitely the right timing.

I was fascinated by “The Secret” from the first pages, I felt like it was written just for me or even by future me that is desperate to get a message across to help me transform my life, change my thought pattern and help me become truly myself. In almost every sentence I would recognize myself and every word would resonate with me on a much deeper level. I have never related or was influenced by a book more in my entire life. By all accounts, it was one of a kind eye-opening experience for me – “There is a truth deep down inside of you that has been waiting for you to discover it.” “The Secret” is a book about spirituality, it’s a based on a concept of positive thinking and “the law of attraction”. But in my view, it can be considered as a textbook about life, full of guidelines, tools and rules that can help you achieve happiness and peace of mind. Therefore, that is exactly how I started to apply it.

For example, I would make a schedule and do exercises that the author suggests, such as daily affirmations, vision board, gratitude lists, etc. Few years after I started to apply this philosophy in my life, I had some health issues and at first, I didn’t take it lightly and my mind wondered right in a very negative mode. But then I realized that’s not what “The Secret” has taught me and that negative thinking is not a part of me anymore. That is to say, it only happened by virtue of this wonderful and truly life-changing book. The author of the book proposes “The truth is that the universe has been answering you all of your life, but you cannot receive the answers unless you are awake.” . And I couldn’t agree more, this quote has become my favorite one and has influenced me the most.

All in all, it reminds us that the universe is the biggest force that is known to us and it’s here to help us achieve our dreams, hopes and goals in life, but our task is to be present and open to welcome that into our life, which is more difficult than it seems and unfortunately a lot of people fail to do so. Hence, it should be our main priority to become mindful and cognizant of the spiritual aspect of life. To conclude, this inner work is an outgoing process, it’s a life-long learning., Thus, when I think about the future, I see myself with a heathy positive mind, constantly mentally and spiritually evolving by applying the knowledge that the book “The Secret” has given me.
