Even Though black and white relationships were illegal they still was there and since the children were not 100% white or 100% black they still treated them as they do the African-Americans. For example a man named Homer Plessy was ⅛ black and ⅞ white he looked like a white man but still could not get a white only car because he was not white enough.

The slang Jim crow came from a song and its lyrics “Jump Jim Crow” this song was made by a white New York comedian named Thomas Dartmouth in 1828.He performed the song “Jump Jim Crow” which was inspired by a disabled black man that was seen in Ohio.His name was Jim Cuff or Jim Crow. It was a huge hit in the 19th century and Thomas Rice performed as “daddy Jim Crow” white being Dressed in a shabby African-American man.

The term Jim Crow was slang for black man so the used the term for the name of the laws thus black man laws.“Jump Jim Crow “ was played so much that Mexico thought it was the National Anthem.

Even though the Jim Crow Laws era was based around blacks and whites there was other races in America at the time as well as in Asian, Mexican, Lations, , Hispanics and as before biracial children. Asians were kina in the middle it depended on the place.Some places considered them as white and treated them equally as white people and some considered them as “colored’ or “black” and treated them the same as they would a black person. For Mexicans, Hispanics,and latinos were given separate schools.Lighter hispanics and Latinos had no discrimination towards them since they passed as white unless they were to say their last names.Some Hispanics and latinos changed their names and lasts names to “white” names. Not many countries helped accept for Canada is the only country that tried to help black people.Some African-Americans moved to Canada or farther north to get away for the jim Crow Laws.
