My goal to make the world a better place and help vulnerable

I am an international medical graduate (IMG) doctor who started a Master of Public Health (MPH) in Haiti, a program offers by GHESKIO at Quisqueya University, in collaboration with Cornell and Vanderbilt Universities from the USA. My goal was to obtain a MPH degree, particularly in HIV /Aids Management, since I wanted to work at GHESKIO as a researcher, a consultant and a manager. My ambition was to help HIV/Aids patients by emphasized prevention and primary care. But I had to put a hold on my dream and never had a chance to complete my degree in public health because I came to the United States of America in 2010 after Haiti devastated earthquake.

The transition was hard because I couldn’t find any work in my field of study and I had to work in other fields to support myself. But I did somehow manage to stay in the medical field by volunteering in different hospitals and working as a patient observer for more than five years at Massachusetts General Hospital and Brigham and Women Faulkner Hospital, and as a nursing assistant at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital, in a stroke department.

Throughout all these experiences, I never forget my main goals to finish my graduate education. Now that I can go back to college, I want to reiterate my desire to get a degree in Physician Assistant program.

My first true introduction to the health industry came in my native country when I was a medical student at Quisqueya University. I was so fascinated by the health profession.

After I graduated and obtained my Doctor of Medicine diploma, I have continued to learn about the medical field by working in a small community in Haiti called Furcy as a primary care doctor. I learned early the absolute need for, and the intrinsic rewards of not just giving back to the community, but being involved in aiding the poor, the sick and the needy. Those in need deserve so much more than just a handout, but rather sustainable and ongoing programming that addresses current requirements, as well as preventative measures.

Obtaining a master’s in physician assistant, I will be better able to bring my passion to help others, contribute positively to the medical world. Bridgewater State University (BSU) will give me the basic I need to achieve my goal. It is understood that BSU is synonymous with unquestionable academic success, the finest faculty, access to resources, and the greatest opportunities to bring ambitions and dreams to fruition. I have always had a strong desire to make the world a better place and help vulnerable, underserved populations, and the voiceless, and to bring access life-saving health care and resources, to address the greatest plagues of our time, AIDS, TB, malaria. BSU will help me achieve my goals of furthering me through the specialize coursework it offers. I wish after graduation to serve a large community and participating in such a dynamic and challenging field.
