Microsoft PowerPoint has a new competitor, Christian Reber. Christian sold his to-do list app Wunderlist for $100 million dollars to microsoft as a part of a push to mobile productivity apps. And microsoft used the Wunderlist app as inspiration and now completely sidelined wunderlist to a point where christian offered to buy it back so the app could survive. And now Christian has enlisted some inventors to take on PowerPoint for taking the title of the best app for making presentations. Microsoft has held that title for around three decades, so it’s not an easy task. Christian is not the first person to try and take on PowerPoint but he may be the first to succeed. Christian was a founder of a start-up called Pitch so that’s what theyre going to use to take on PowerPoint. Reber wrote that there are broken fonts, compatibility issues, lack of versioning, no collaboration support and many more problems that need to be fixed that will be fixed in his app and he also said that people spend too much time setting up the slides in PowerPoint moving the text boxes and trying to make it look good which is a problem that they’re going to try to fix in their app.

Nvidia has came out with yet another revolutionary GPU that is cheaper and is better at everything including ray tracking. This GPU is under the name of Ampere. Let’s get into what it’s improving like I said earlier, it’s an improvement to ray tracking which is helpful to a lot of things such as 3D modeling and video games ray tracking is basically applying a shader to what you’re using the ray tracking and it uses rays to track the path light and shadows including color bleed between colors. The previous GPU by Nvidia the RTX 3000 used ray tracking technology but that was a beta test but now it’s a full release of ray tracking which is amazing.
It relates to the subject because it relates to GPUs which we covered in Chapter 1. And it’s also shows an example of evolution of computers as the years go on. Finally what do i think of all of this as a person who plays games on a daily basis i think it’s great because it allows me to play games that look better and aren’t nearly as demanding as some other games such as ARK: Survival Evolved.
