Macroeconomics Exploration of Dissociation

Society is feeling the negative effects of the dissociation between the growth of technology and the lack of accommodation to the new machine age, but not all is lost, as humans are gradually learning how to work with these groundbreaking changes as opposed to challenging them and falling behind. To further this concept, it is necessary to elaborate upon the underlying forces that are causing the difficulty between the balance of man and ever—advancing technology. Due to the fact that the new machine age is now digital, the reason being that digital goods can be replicated to a ‘T’ at almost no cost, and on top of that, these goods can be delivered almost instantly.

Goods being digital causes an abundance, and this brings to light the fact that we can measure the world in unprecedented ways. Since our tech is growing exponentially, we are still behind, as our brains are wired for linear growth, this situation catches society off guard.

People argue that technology is only good for so many things, but the combinatorial underlying factor counters this, as many innovations have been built off of previous ones (such as dating apps advertised via twitter, therefore by the internet, and so on). All three of these factors: digitalization, exponential growth, and combinatorial breakthroughs are the key to ideal productivity. Rather than race against it, harmony is key to our alignment and total attunement with optimal productivity. Humans used to be the sole workers to collect water from springs to be sold.

Today, those jobs have been replaced by machines, so water can be mass distributed via bottles, jugs, etc.

This can be seen in a negative light since more efficient have replaced man-power, but man working with technology can provide benefits to everyone. This can be seen with Smart Water; the scientists at their labs can create clouds artificially, which are vapor distilled with added electrolytes and then bottled. Better technology fueled by great minds produces a better product that benefits humans. A counterexample would be if humans became too integrated with machine. There has been a lot of speculation of microscopic, medical nanobots becoming common to fix ailments (imagine being able to have tiny robots accurately wipe out all cancer cells).

If something were to go wrong with this, lets say the robots began attacking organs instead of cancer, it could kill someone, as humans are not capable of shrinking down to the microscopic level and eradicating miniscule robots. To further understand this concept, one can think of this situation as that of an artificial heart placed inside of a patient in need of one. If the body rejects the nonorganic organ, the patient will die; however, if the body accepts it- man working with machine, the person will be healthier than ever before. The overall meaning of this is that humans and technology need to work hand-in-hand. If we do not cooperate and learn to grow with our rapidly advancing technology, society will suffer.
