Let The Sea Set You Free

For me, a location that best helps me relax is the beach. The waves are always calm and quiet with a steady cool flowing breeze coming off the water. The weather in the ocean always abides beautiful, the sun still shining, and the waves always falling to crash. It is different from any other place; it brings a bright adventure. I go to the beach to get away from all my problems and anxiety that brings me down physically and emotionally.

When I go to the beach, the feeling of burning hot sand beneath my feet and between my toes comforts me. I stop and observe the power of nature and how beautiful it can be. I go to the beach just for relaxation, pure beauty, and complete entertainment.

The yellow beaming sun blinds me as it rises from the horizon; plastering beautiful reds and oranges throughout the brisk morning sky. The small crashing waves begin washing up rubbish from the night before.

The untouched sand, shown without footprints takes my view from left to right, and as far down as I can see. Comforting, an amiable salty ocean breeze ripples through my face and silky hair. Local beach shops start to prepare for their day; unlocking their doors, they quickly hustle all of there beach products: chairs, umbrellas, games, bathing suits and lots more. As I look out to the sea, I spot a large white cruise ship on the ocean’s edge. The fishing boats are slowing moving along the shore and setting out to sea.

Abandoned, nothing was left to see other than a few seagulls picking at the stinky garbage left from visitors before. The ocean breeze continues to blow as people young and old start to arrive with big smiles across their face.

Appearing is cold drinks, sandwiches overflowing out of coolers, sandy bags, and beach chairs carried over both shoulders. Walking down, the beating heat gusts through my hair. I stop and stand where I can taste the fresh salt air because it is an oh so strong. I can hear the sound of seagulls swooping over my head and eyeing my neatly packed food. The short and tall waves crash up against the sand, and the strong scent of sunscreen quickly surrounds my towel. As I get up from my chair, I spring on my feet, softly hitting the blistering hot sand. Listening to children giggle as their sand castles become demolished by the powerful waves crashing every few minutes. Sitting there for hours with my toes in the water and butt in the sand, I continue to feel the warmth of the sun caressing my soul and sun-kissed skin. Satisfied knowing if I get too toasty, I’m only a few steps from the vigorous cold water and will instantly feel relief from my warm to touch skin. To peacefully lay on a float or tube in the never-ending open water and to feel as if I am part of the sea. Not only to feel but to hear the folding waves and the hungry seagulls, is my favorite dream I get to live every day.

Many people like to go to the beach for a fun recreational activity as well. I often observe first thing in the morning, individuals running miles up and down the newly awakened sunrise. The volleyball nets are strung up tight in the wind, and the hammocks tied the tree to tree sway loosely in the gentle breeze. People always discover something fun to do while at the beach. It may be; playing volleyball, frisbee, racket ball, or playing various types of water sports in the ocean. Although for some, it is relaxing and continuing to be lazy, laying in the hammocks or out on the sand. My desire is being relaxed and taking in everything that is going on around me. It is calming to watch the palm trees move freely, or the many teenagers were leaping to make the ultimate shot in the volleyball game. Excitement cheers as the volleyball are wonderfully played back over the net for another winning shot. Everyone still with the biggest smiles and laughs shown throughout their faces, creating memories without realizing.

Towards the end of the day when things are winding down, women sit and relax carelessly on the seashore reading their romance novels and gossiping away. The ocean spray lightly sprinkles onto their crisp sunburnt base like the touch of a soft feather. Outstanding sand castles are left still standing free in the wind, free from being taken apart. Waves crash onto land as the sun fastly falls in the distance like it is sinking into the bright blue water. A splash of warm hues take over the sky as the sun sets, and once again the beach is left empty. The floor of the beach is almost accompanied by the garbage, with different colors, shapes, and sizes, but the beach still silent, and lonely. Only the light sound of waves crashing against the cool sand remains. The sun is setting. The waves are crashing. People are whispering under the fading sunset as they embrace every moment. Lastly, I am left relaxed walking down the shoreline of the beach, feeling the slowing sand squish between my toes. A beach is a place I will always turn to when I want to escape and find true happiness.
