Such as changing the way food is produced and distribution could cause the dangerous effects of global warming. However, in order to stop global warming everyone has to assist as a group instead of individuals. In the essay, “Why Bother”. Michael Pollan is trying to make each person see their responsibility in preventing climate change and that what an individual can do may look insignificant but collectively can make a huge difference. He claims that all humanity causes the problem and therefore must do their share to solve it. Pollan convinced his audience to believe his arguments, Pollan uses evidence, and observation. In order to convince his audience, he uses a lot of reason based on his evidence as well as using a language that would motivate and it cause someone to feel a strong emotion and audience to action.

Steingraber, Sandra.” Despair Not”. From INQUIRY TO Academic Writing. A TEXT AND READER fourth Edition by Green & Lidinsky. Bedford/St Martins 2018. (670 to 776).

Sandra addresses that we do not need to wait around for political changes before making immediate and radical transformation in our lives. This is the statement that Steingraber made by suggesting that we do not need to wait on political influence to assist in the quest to better our environment; because everyone could make change in their own lives that would help benefit not only society but also the planet itself. She also connects the environment crisis with the moral crisis. Although Steingraber provides statics that I believe are necessary because there is the potential consequence of what will or could happen if we were to continue with chemical contamination of our territory.

Barnabas, Dickson. “Can Environmental Ethics ‘Solve’ Environmental Problems and Save the World?”.

Dickson focus on the ultimate issue for the environmental ethics. The author claims that in order to pursue this profound environmental challenge facing all living beings, Dickson centers his discussion upon the possible relationships between environmental ethics and environmental problems, and whether ethical inquiry can contribute latter’s solution. Although I have specific points of difference and major reservations about Dickson’s argument. However, I oppose Dickson’s conclusion that “environmental ethics do not have a major contribution to make to the solution of environmental problems and the solution of environmental problems may not rest on ethical change. I believe environmental ethics can solve environmental problems and save the world but first the essential normative nature of environmental problems and their solution must be recognized.
