The one thing that prevents you from attaining your goal is your behaviour. Nothing is impossible to achieve unless you decide to do it at all costs. People usually look for short cuts and want to accomplish their goals in one night. This perception allows them to fall back or face failure as they put themselves in false delusions.

It is important to realize that when it comes to goals, the process is slow and steady; following a hasty behaviour will give you nothing but greater loss. British Cycling (2003) is a great example of the outputs that can be achieved due to small incremental steps. It was after 110 years, they realized the significance of applying marginal gains in their practice to get the big result. When working towards a goal it is important to have a proper plan structured, as it will allow you to become disciplined and know the path you want to follow, it will give a clearer view of your direction and you will be able to act proactively regarding certain obstacles coming your way. It is important to be dedicated and not run away from putting that tiny extra effort at the end of the day.

When it comes to working with teams or several members, keeping one’s knowledge inside, has never brought any good to anyone. One should believe in the concept of sharing, as it creates greater chances of further learning and growth.

What you choose to do today, will give you the outcome tomorrow. If you chose to adopt good habits today, they will give you a reliable result, beneficial in the long run.

Giving importance to the good things around you is an even better way to stay focused on goals. Gratitude is a great element for keeping oneself motivated towards his goals. You can even keep a journal to list down all the things you have achieved and are thankful for, doing this would help you to move forward with a positive attitude.

You can also keep a track of your progress as it will give you the benefit of restructuring your plans, if necessary, before getting too late. Milestones will let you know the effectiveness of your steps and how hard or easy you have to go further. Moreover, you can also keep a reward system to keep you moving continuously, without losing hope or getting demotivated. It is not necessary to give oneself expensive rewards, even little, simple treats would do.

Importance of small incremental steps should be recognized by everyone, life is full of challenges, ups and downs, taking risk is part of the journey, but one should not lose hope or break his confidence during the process. Failure should be considered as a learning point, an opportunity of growth. Those who do not stand up after falling down can never attain their goals.
