Abortion Essays

In the last century the topic of abortions became one of the most acute that were ever discussed. The idea of abortion contradicts most of the religious beliefs that consider life sacred. But denying abortions may become an instrument of oppression (as it was brightly and terrifyingly depicted in “The Handmaid’s Tale” book and TV series). So, writing a persuasive essay on abortion may be a tricky task. Actually, there is almost no chance to persuade anyone, because the topic of abortions is crucial for many social phenomena such as demographic problem, religion, psychology, feminism etc.

If you have to write an abortion essay, prepare to be overwhelmed with data - and this data might be clearly beneficial for a certain side of the problem. Pro-life and pro-choice activists are constantly pulling the blanket, sometimes not even bothering to double-check the data or the credibility of the researches. There are so many examples of data that was discredited later, that one should be extra careful while writing essays of abortion. Better cross-check the information you use from the most reliable sources from both camps. The slight differences are inevitable, but if the figures from pro-life and pro-choice researches are at least close, you may use them in your essay.

Also, please try to divide your personal feelings and moral principles from the actual data. It is only natural that you will want to defend your own point of view (it’s a persuasive essay on abortion after all!), but to prove your point you should use the data that even your opponents can’t deny. Put yourself into their shoes and try to predict their counterarguments, so that your essay will be brilliantly persuasive and won’t raise any tricky question you would be unprepared to.
