The present chapter has introduced the nature of micro enterprises, characteristics role and development of micro enterprises. The study deals with the statement of the problem, objectives of the study, scope of the study, the hypothesis framed on the basis of objectives, area of the study, limitations of the study and frame the chapter scheme.The study concluded that micro enterprises have strong capability of adapting to changes of market demands, have clear asset rights and specific authority and duties. The organizational structure of micro enterprises is flexible and easy to manage with small size.Delegate business micro enterprises are able to cater closely to customer demand. Further the study would highlight the role and importance of micro-credit, micro finance institutions, role of Government and Self Help Groups in offering micro credit. It is also noteworthy to add that efforts to resolve access to finance issues are not solely the responsibility of governments, but the micro enterprises need to take a better initiative than pointing it out as the number one obstacles. They need to mobilize joint advocacy and recommendations based on sound analysis through their membership organizations.
