For example, with the development of SpaceX, Musk wanted to inspire people to think about exploring space again by making it cheaper (Marcu and Balteanu 20). Musk’s visionary leadership has allowed him to think about a bigger picture of the future. Also, Musk believes that man’s fate in the universe is his obligation (Muegge and Reid 23). Therefore, he invested his fortune in the creation of SpaceX.

Furthermore, another characteristic that describes Elon as a visionary leader is his excellent implementation skills. For example, during the development of SpaceX, Musk used open-concept offices, where scientists and engineers worked alongside welders and machinists (Muegge and Reid 23). Also, he would hire young overachievers fresh from college and top engineers from Boeing, Lockheed Martin, and Orbital Sciences (Muegge and Reid 23). In 2010, SpaceX became the first company to send a privately owned and operated vehicle into orbit and back (Belfiore 103). Furthermore, with SpaceX, Musk is demonstrating that will be possible to make humans into multi-planetary species (Muegge and Reid 24).
