It was preached to me the second I entered senior year in high school: internships lead to jobs. I understand that in this highly connected world the ability to get a job almost solely depends on connections Once I exit college, I am practically guaranteed to work for a company that I worked with in college 7 a company that knows me and my abilities. To a potential employer, skill level is as important as the employee’s characters Therefore, I believe that it is paramount to intern in a city that is renowned for my major, To me, there is no other city that I could pursue a career in accounting like the financial capital of America: New York, New York The statistics for accounting in New York dwarfs the competition compared to every place in the world.
There are approximately 140,000 individuals pursuing the accounting field in New York City aloner One look at this number may produce an initial reaction that there is too much competition, it may be better to search somewhere else; however, all Big Four Companies headquarters are stationed herer Rather it is with Deloitte, PwC, Ernest and Young, or KPMG, I know that I could obtain a huge internship, and work my way up the latter.
The company would have the chance to learn my personality first hand, instead of basing it off an interview, and I can learn the interworking’s of one of these four at a young age As if these accounting firms were not good enough, the island Manhattan is situated in the middle of the city.
World renowned Wall Street, located at the tip of Manhattan, has produced more financial successes than anywhere in the world, This street is a world capital for finance, I cannot think of a better place to learn about the art of investing than Wall Street. It seems that whatever career I pursue in the accounting/finance field, New York City has an answer as well as an opportunity to work with the best of the best, New York City appears to be the big leagues for an accounting student; any internship with any of the companies would add a huge porLion to my resume. As a senior in high school, the first step is to establish myself at my new university, and then make moves to start thinking about a career. I know that I will be interning somewhere every summer, and I will work hard to make sure at least one of these internships is in New York.
