Every individual in our society aspires and dreams in achieving various life success. As an undergraduate, I too have an ambition of practicing office management in the medical field. Being a challenging career, my desire in the field is to use the skills I will acquire in education and help the therapeutic area a prosperous in saving the human life. Like any other profession, the medical field has its ethics, minimum qualifications that one has to meet before being allowed by the state to practice.

Our state is truly a melting pot of different cultures, and this is more evident in the medical setting. Culture is very involved. There are ethics issues, religious issues and society beliefs systems that one must adhere to, to succeed in the medical field. In this paper, I will discuss some of the aspects that office management in medical field entails.

Many times, the healthcare providers meet problems related with patients of limited English proficiency. Statistics in US indicates that more than 38 million adults who speak a language other than English, 18 million of the people, the report says that they talk English ‘very well’.

The language barriers can significantly affect the level of quality of health care one receives. For example, French-speaking individuals are less likely than Whites to visit health providers, for checkups or even vaccination. Language and communication can be a significant barrier in the medical field, and that is why it is important for one to be a bilingual or even multilingual to succeed in the field.

Medical management profession has long subscribed to a body of ethical statements created purposefully for the benefit of the field. As a member of this profession, a person must recognize the responsibility to the patients first (Roger, Grönroos, Tervo-Pellikka, & O’Moore, 200). Some of the principles adopted by the American Medical Association are not only the law but also standards of conduct that will define the essentials of the behavior of the managers. The principle-le of the medical ethics, expects the managers to provide and be dedicated to providing competent accountability and respect for dignity human rights. One is also supposed to uphold the standards of professionalism, be honest in all the interactions and never to indulge in any fraud or deception acts.

In the medical management field, it is important for one to provide a good standard of practice and concern (D’Orazio & Snook, 2004). Proper accountability of the medical resources is necessary. The professions are always expected to be proactive in their job. Ensuring that everything needed by the doctors, nurses, and patient is made available always. One must account for the patient history, their views, and values, which will help further improvement in the service delivery.

Like privacy, office management in medical field high value to the society. The area provides valuable information relating to the risk factors, outcomes, management of drugs and medicine, proper storage facilities and minimization of health care costs to the patients. There are about several core values that greatly defines professionalism in the medical management field; they include; accountability, excellence, integrity, professional duty and social responsibility (D’Orazio & Snook, 2004).

The values play a significant role in shaping the beliefs of the personnel in this field. An individual develops a high level of leadership skills dependability and respect to all the reactionaries in the day-to-day operation of the departments. Through adherence to the values, one develops positive attitudes towards service delivery and communication among the core employees. Excellence requires one to use the current knowledge and theory while understanding personal limits and judgments.

While education requirements shift, increasingly medical offices are requiring administration office candidates to have associates’ or certifications, ideally in wellbeing related and business-related fields (Chatfield, 2005). One must be an excellent communicator and use an impeccable spelling and grammar whenever they undertake their document writing and communicating. A computer is a tool that one must familiarize with in details (Chatfield, 2005). Since mo0st of the task will be billing and light bookkeeping, they are expected to understand application such as word processing and spreadsheets.

Medical office managers also need to have a clear understanding of the medical coding system. The system requires six months training, where one will be equipped with the knowledge of the software and be able to execute the insurance billing in a more easy way.

Medical office managers interact with most of the personnel who works in the health sector. They have to work hand in hand with every staff in the institution in ensuring that the services are delivered more effectively and efficiently. The medical officer works in close collaboration with doctors. Just as the patient to doctor, relationship is important therapeutic in medicine, so the interaction between medical office managers and physicians is central to the delivery of proper clinical care. The doctors will focus to offer the best healthcare services for the clinic patients, while the office managers will concentrate on the patient populations, and concentrate on maximizing the resources, which gives the best healthcare within the budget for all.

In summary, it is important for one to understand all the requirement necessary for a profession explicitly. An individual is expected to have the minimum qualification and interest in any profession that they aspire to take. Culture setting is ever changing, updating oneself with the profession social demands is vital for the success in the field. For medical office management, it is important to uphold integrity and honest as they practice the profession since the patient wellbeing is made success through their proper resource management.
